Measurement that proves which visits book calls
We set up GA4, Google Tag Manager and the conversion paths behind forms, calls and thank-you pages, so you can see which visits actually book a conversation.
Clean GA4 events
Named, once
Forms + calls tracked
The paths that book
Ads parity
Same signal in Google Ads
Keep/cut/scale reporting
A weekly decision, not a chart
The leak
Traffic you can’t trust
Dashboards can look busy while the diary stays empty. These are the failure modes we fix first.
Missing forms and calls
The enquiry happened. GA4 never saw it. You scale the channel that looks quiet and starve the one that fills the calendar.
Double fires
The same form submit or thank-you view fires twice. Lead counts inflate, cost per lead looks cheaper than it is, and every decision downstream is wrong.
Ads on the wrong signal
Google Ads optimises to a page view, a click, or a tag that does not mean a booked call. Spend follows the metric, not the conversation.
Full scope
The full measurement scope we run for service businesses
Precise workstreams — not a vague “we set up analytics” promise. We go as deep as the account needs after the Diagnostic.
01
GA4 foundation
- Property, data streams and key events aligned to the service site — not a leftover property from a previous agency.
- A short event dictionary: what counts as a form, a call, a booked action, and what does not.
- Internal traffic, spam and known test hits filtered so weekly numbers stay readable.
- Conversion definitions that match how the business actually takes a lead.
- Admin access mapped so the client owns the property. We advise; we do not keep the keys hostage.
02
GTM structure
- One container, named tags, triggers and variables a human can audit.
- Consent and tag-firing order so measurement does not fight the site.
- A staging versus live check, so a test tag does not ship with the production container.
- Version notes on every publish. No silent overwrites.
- Workspace hygiene: dead tags removed, not stacked.
03
Form & thank-you paths
- Each live form mapped to a thank-you state, redirect or in-page success.
- Events on the success, not on the click of Submit.
- Hidden fields and multi-step forms checked so step one is not counted as a lead.
- Duplicate thank-you URLs collapsed so one enquiry is one event.
- A written path list the team can re-test after a plugin update.
04
Call tracking patterns
- Calls from the site, from Ads call assets, and from organic landings treated as separate patterns.
- Dynamic numbers only where they do not break NAP or local consistency.
- Duration or answered rules agreed in writing — not a default we invent.
- Missed calls flagged, not silently dropped.
- You own the call-tracking vendor. We specify the pattern; we do not pay the bill.
05
Google Ads conversion parity
- The same lead definitions imported into Google Ads, not a second, looser goal.
- Primary conversion set to the action that books a call, not a page view.
- Enhanced conversions considered only when the data is clean enough to help.
- Imported versus tag-based conversions chosen so the account does not double-count.
- A side-by-side check: Ads conversions against GA4 for the same week.
06
Lead quality/offline
- A simple path from lead to qualified or booked, if the client can export it.
- Offline imports only when the source file is reliable. No invented CRM stages.
- Quality notes shared with Ads and SEO so poor leads are not scaled.
- We do not rebuild the CRM, and we do not run sales follow-up.
07
Debugging
- Tag Assistant and GA4 DebugView used on the live paths, not a staging guess.
- A punch-list of broken forms, blocked scripts and consent gaps.
- Re-test after theme, form or plugin changes that touch conversion URLs.
- Known failures written down, not left in a Slack thread.
08
Reporting
- A keep, cut or scale note each cycle: which channels earned calls, which did not.
- Forms and calls shown together. Traffic is context, not the verdict.
- No chart pack that cannot change a decision.
- Human-reviewed narrative. Drafting tools are fine; the call is not automated.
09
How measurement joins ClickOptimo
- Tracking fixed before SEO or Ads is scaled.
- One definition of a lead, shared with the SEO and Ads workstreams.
- Landing-page lessons fed back when a page earns visits but not calls.
- The Diagnostic decides whether measurement is the leak, or a supporting track.
Included
What’s included when you engage us for measurement
The same discipline, scoped to the engagement — not a vague monthly bundle.
Growth Diagnostic
Free · about 30 minutes
- A quick read of the visit → form → call path.
- Whether missing events, double fires or the Ads signal is the real bottleneck.
- A clear path: Lead Engine, Retainer, or DIY.
90-Day Lead Engine
When measurement is in the scope
- Audit → fix the paths that book calls → a written keep/cut/scale note.
- GA4, GTM and Ads parity first. Content or media scale only after the signal is clean.
- Day-90 decision: continue, adjust, or stop.
Growth Retainer
Measurement as a primary or supporting track
- Ongoing event hygiene against lead KPIs.
- Re-test after form, theme or campaign changes.
- Monthly human-reviewed narrative. AI-assisted drafting is fine; the call is not automated.
Boundaries
What we won’t pretend measurement can do
Straight limits. If a promise needs a disclaimer the size of the page, it does not belong here.
- No CRM rebuild. We will not migrate, redesign or administer your sales system inside this engagement.
- No fake attribution. We will not invent a model, a channel credit or a lead that the data does not support.
- No platform accuracy guarantees. GA4, Google Ads and call platforms report what they receive. We do not warrant their numbers.
- The client owns vendor bills — Google, call tracking, form tools and any other third-party invoice.
- No running your sales follow-up, and no paying your media spend.
Process
How measurement work runs
After the Diagnostic, work follows the leak — not a fixed pack of dashboards.
1
Diagnose
Read the live paths: forms, thank-you pages, calls and the Ads conversion set. Written gaps, not a slide dump.
2
Name the events
Agree what a lead is. Dictionary first, tags second, so every platform speaks the same language.
3
Fix the paths
GTM, GA4 and Ads parity on the journeys that book calls. Double fires and missing submits closed before anyone scales spend.
4
Report keep, cut, scale
A decision note on forms and calls. Then retain, adjust, or stop. Traffic is never the verdict on its own.
Fit check
Who it’s for, and who it isn’t
We would rather say no in thirty minutes than sell the wrong engagement.
✓ A good fit
- Service business, roughly $500k–$10M
- Spend or SEO decisions are being made on numbers nobody trusts
- Will pause scaling until forms and calls are counted once
- Can give GA4, GTM and Ads access, and keeps ownership
- Wants one partner accountable to leads and booked calls
✗ Not a fit
- “Guarantee the platform is accurate”
- A CRM rebuild, dressed up as tracking
- Fake multi-touch models for a slide deck
- No willingness to fix forms, thank-you pages or the Ads conversion
Pixels, dashboards and reporting

FAQ
Straight answers before you book
How long before the numbers are usable?
Often days, not a quarter — once access is in and the live forms are identifiable. We do not call a property “done” until a real form and a real call have been seen once, in GA4 and in the place Ads will optimise to.
Do you guarantee GA4 or Google Ads accuracy?
No. We do not warrant platform accuracy, attribution models or a lead volume. We commit to a clean event dictionary, paths that fire once, and reporting that shows forms and calls next to spend.
Will you rebuild our CRM?
No. Lead quality and offline imports are in scope only when you can export a reliable file. A CRM rebuild, pipeline redesign or sales-team process is out.
Who pays for GA4, Tag Manager and call tracking?
You do. Google’s products, call-tracking vendors and form tools stay on your accounts and your invoices. Our fee is the measurement work, not the vendor bill.
Can Google Ads run before tracking is clean?
It can, but it should not be scaled. If the conversion is a page view or a double-fired form, the algorithm will buy more of the wrong thing. We fix the signal before anyone increases budget.
How does this join SEO and the Lead Engine?
Measurement is often the first track inside the 90-Day Lead Engine, and the shared definition of a lead for SEO and Ads after that. A Growth Retainer keeps the paths honest once the sprint ends.
